Nelson talks following point at Yeovil

10 December 2022

Interim first team manager Michael Nelson gave his reaction to Iron Player after the 0-0 draw at Yeovil Town, which saw United's first clean sheet since March.

He said: "We're very pleased with the clean sheet and the way we defended and performed on the whole.

"However, there's a big element of disappointment that we didn't take one of our chances and get all three points, but I've said to the boys it's a building block. The first clean sheet in a long time so we take the positive from it and move on.

"It's been hanging over the lads for a long time now, not keeping a clean sheet and I thought we were brilliant today. Our analyst came in with the stats and they had one shot on target in the game.

"I thought our two centre-halves were excellent, when balls were whipped in they were always there with a head on it. All the lads put in a shift.

"On another day we could have won, but if you're not going to win certainly don't lose, and the clean sheet and point are pleasing.

"We had to make sure we changed something in the group and I felt everyone who came in did well, along with the rest of the team.

"We now have to recover well on the journey home, tomorrow and Monday and prepare for Woking at home on Tuesday."
