Remembering past matches played by the Iron on August 26...
| Former Iron players born on this day: Bill Ormond (1926), Kenny Milne (1979), Mamadou Seck (1979), Devarn Green (1996). |
Scunthorpe moved to the top of League One, if only for a few hours, as a result of their narrow win over Southend on this day in 2005.
Scunthorpe's incisive football brought them reward in the 36th minute when Matt Sparrow played the ball into the box from the right, Billy Sharp allowed it to run through and Ian Baraclough tucked away in fine style.
They held out for a 1-0 victory at Glanford Park, and it is one of eight victories on August 26.
