The Iron spoiled Mansfield Town's return to the Football League with a clinical win at home.
The Stags began well and Lee Stevenson shot wide, but the hosts settled after an indifferent 30 minutes and Matt Sparrow's half-volley put them ahead.
Debutant Sam Winnall then beat Alan Marriott to a through-ball to make it 2-0.
The Iron eased home after the break, although Stags substitute Louis Briscoe missed a late penalty, which saw Eddie Nolan sent off for a second caution.

An unanswered Paul Hayes brace beat Mansfield to keep Scunthorpe on top of League Two.
The Iron weathered early pressure before Hayes' stunning first, a top-corner strike from outside the box following a Sam Winnall lay off.
Winnall was again the provider after the break, nodding down a looping ball which Hayes, making his third debut for the club, converted.
Between the goals, Mansfield pressured with direct play but never put the away side - nine games unbeaten - in danger.
IPOUA HITS FOUR AS IRON HIT STAGS FOR SIX

Guy Ipoua scored six goals as United defeated Mansfield Town 6-0 at home in November 2000.
Bjarni Larusson curled home the opener right at the start, before Steve Torpey then volleyed in a sweet finish soon after.
Ipoua then took over, rounding the goalkeeper for the third goal and slotting home.
Mansfield had Lee Williamson sent off before Ipoua added a header early in the second period, and then won a penalty which he slotted home following a mazy run.
He then headed in the final strike from close range.
