Academy manager Tony Daws has profiled the eight new first year apprentices (Under-17s) inducted into our Under-18s set-up ahead of the 2021-22 season.

OWEN FOSTER
Owen stands at 6ft 3in (and is still growing we think!), and he has been with Scunthorpe United since he signed for the club’s academy almost five years ago in October 2016 when he was at the Under-12 age group. Owen commands his area and strikes the ball well from hands and feet and has developed in to a competent goalkeeper for his age. Owen would have been exposed to more game time in the Under-18s during the 2020-21 season but he experienced a hand injury which sidelined him for quite a while. He is now fully fit and ready to start his apprenticeship.
HARRY ELLIOTT-BELL
Harry is another one who doesn’t seem to stop growing! He is now 6ft 2in. Harry signed for the club’s academy six years ago at the Under-10s age group. He has made very good progress through the academy system, developing his ability and skills so that he is now able to play as a central defender, a right-back and also in central midfield. He is a very versatile player. Harry is technically proficient, and is very athletic and quick, which are always good attributes to have.
BEN PIKE
Ben is a 6ft 1in naturally left-footed player who has shown that he is capable of playing as a left centre-back and also as a left-back this season in the Under-16s and also in the Under-18s. Ben joined the club recently after a period on trial with us. He has demonstrated that he has a good change of pace, a fantastic attitude, enjoys defending and always applies himself really well.
JOSH ROBERTSON
At 5ft 10in, Josh is a no-nonsense, versatile and hard-working box-to-box midfield player who is also a ball winner. He is a player who is comfortable playing in central midfield but can also play as a central defender and as a left-back if required. Josh joined us after impressing on trial.
NAT WALLACE
Nat is very athletic, quick and has excellent technical skills coupled with his hard-working mentality. This season, playing in the Under-16s and the youth team, Nat has shown that he can meet the standard required as a winger and also as a central striker. Nat is 5ft 11in and has an outstanding attitude, he always wants to listen and learn to improve himself.
HARRISON POULTER
Harrison is a 5ft 9in left-footed centre forward who can also play behind the strikers in a slightly deeper role if required. He is very quick, technically good and works really hard in and out of possession. Harrison joined the club after impressing on trial. He has played in a lot of youth team games this season, where he has gained a wealth of experience and scored a number of goals along the way.
TYRELL SELLARS-FLEMING
A 6ft 2in centre forward. Ty has been on the fringes of signing for the club since he came to our notice early in his Under-15 season. He committed to us and put pen to paper earlier this season. Ty has played regularly in the Under-18s during the 2020-21 season and has gained valuable experience at this level, learning what it’s all about and scoring a number of goals along the way.
CHARLEY STROUTHER
Charley signed for the club as an Under-14 in September 2018. He is primarily a 5ft 11in left-footed centre forward who can also play as a left winger. Charley has been involved in a lot of youth team games this season and has been lucky enough to experience the step up and demands of youth team football. Charley has also contributed with a number of goals as well.
