Taft confident heading to Hartlepool

10 December 2021

Defender George Taft is looking forward to taking on Hartlepool United this weekend and believes his side can build on a run of four draws in the last five games with victory at the Suit Direct Stadium.

The 28-year-old is an ever-present in the team in the league so far this term and is hoping the Iron can get their first win on the road this term when they take on Graeme Lee's Pools.

"We're just missing that clinical finish at the minute to help us put teams to bed and get the win," he said, when reflecting on the 1-1 away draw against Stevenage in midweek where his side topped the possession charts.

"We've worked really hard in training and the gaffer has come in and really pushed us to the limit to see where we're at. The standard he wants is very high and everyone has to get up to that quickly. You have to adapt quickly but I think we're keeping a lot more of the ball now.

"The last three draws are something to build on but the next step is to get that win and three points.

"We're focused on each game at a time and we're going there to win. They're on a good run but I think it's something we can do."
