Jack Lambert switches back to Darlington on loan

6 March 2020

Iron Under-23s midfielder Jack Lambert has rejoined National League North side Darlington on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has already been out on loan to Darlo this season, between mid-November and mid-January, making 10 appearances and scoring two goals during his two-month stay.

Both strikes came in the FA Trophy against Gainsborough Trinity and Solihull Moors, respectively. His last touch of the ball in a Darlington shirt led to a goal, with his low cross against Alfreton being turned in by Justin Donawa.

Lambert then joined Blyth Spartans on loan at the end of January and played 64 minutes on his debut 24 hours later as the side lost 3-0 at home to league leaders Kings Lynn Town. In total, he made three starts during his stay at the club, while management team Lee Clark and Paul Stephenson left the club by mutual consent in midweek.

The former Middlesbrough youth product signed for Scunthorpe in the summer after leaving Dundee and arrives back at Blackwell Meadows in time to be in contention to make the trip to face AFC Telford United on Saturday.
