On the back of the government's announcement on Friday, July 17th that they're hoping supporters will be able to attend football matches in stadiums again from October, Scunthorpe United is looking at various protocols and how this might affect us.
The club have been planning over the recent weeks for a return of crowds and the draft guidance published by the government today will enable further planning with more clarity. Like all clubs, we will of course be led by government and EFL guidance and when we know more details, we'll communicate as soon as we can, but we'll try our best to get people watching matches in our stadium again as soon and as safely as possible.
Due to social distancing measures, it is looking unlikely that all season ticket holders will be able to sit in their allocated seat, so this is being given further consideration as to how to best resolve but we'll look to accommodate everybody in the best way we can.
We urge supporters to buy their season ticket for the 2020-21 season as soon as possible to ensure that in the event of games returning behind a reduced capacity crowd, those who have signed up the earliest will get priority access to those games. This will also help the club in its planning.
The reduced price (which reflects the value of the four cancelled 2019-20 home games) will be held for the duration of the season for renewals. The published early bird price will be held throughout the season for any new season ticket holders to purchase and the same will apply regarding reduced capacity games.
