The Iron Vault: Most Goals in One Match

These two results also go down as the only two games where the Iron have notched eight goals - the most goals they've scored in a single league match. But that's not what this article is about, despite fulfilling the heading brief. There was another piece of Iron history within the game too.

8-1 v Luton Town - Division Three - April 24, 1965

LINE-UP: Sidebottom, Horstead, Hemstead, Smith, Neale, Lindsey, Bramley (1), Scott, Thomas (5), Mahy (1), Wilson (1).

Barrie Thomas would be the standout in the history books with a quintet of the goals in this game, becoming the first and so far only Iron player ever to notch five goals for the club in a league game, while Stuart Bramley, Barry Mahy and Andy Wilson added the three others to complete the rout.
