Pitch renovations underway at Bottesford Town

29 May 2019

Following the announcement last week that has seen the Iron and Bottesford Town enter into a partnership, Fineturf have commenced works on their pitch renovations at Birkdale Park.

The Iron are investing in the main first team pitch on Ontario Road, with the club’s ground staff working closely with the Poachers throughout the season to maintain the surface which will be used by both parties.

Fineturf, who work closely with Scunthorpe's ground staff to complete work on Glanford Park and the club's training pitch, are also on site at Birkdale Park to improve the surface which will be used by Russ Wilcox's Under-23s side in the 2019-20 season.

The goal mouth areas of the pitch are being completely renovated, which involves the removal of the surface before the area is levelled and treated accordingly. Meanwhile, the remainder of the pitch has seen seed, sand, fertiliser and a top dressing applied.

United will play their Under-23 home games at Birkdale Park in the forthcoming season, while season ticket holders can take advantage of a couple of offers from the local Step 5 side.

12th Man holders for 2019-20 will be admitted for free providing they carry their season cards to any Under-23s fixture at Birkdale Park. All other supporters can be admitted at a cost of £3 for adults and £1 for Over-65s and Under-18s. The partnership will see Bottesford Town will retain all gate receipts.

In addition to this, Bottesford will introduce an offer for all of the Iron’s 12th Man holders to gain admission to Birkdale Park for their NCEL fixtures at the concessionary rate of just £3.
