Scunthorpe United can confirm that they will be taking former manager Jimmy Dean’s Spalding United side in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 18th 2026 (kick-off at 3PM)
With Spalding coming off the back of a promotion-winning play-off campaign under Dean, the encounter will mark the fifth time that the Lincolnshire-based clubs have faced one another, with the previous encounters coming in the Lincolnshire Cup.
The previous meeting between the clubs was set to take place at Sir Halley Stewart Field, on the 4th of February 2025. However, the Tulips were unable to field a side for the senior cup semi-final, forcing them to withdraw from the competition and, in the process, granting the Iron a bye to the final at Lincoln City's LNER Stadium.
