Energy giants Utilita become Iron’s front of shirt sponsor

15 July 2019

Scunthorpe United Football Club is delighted to announce a major new partnership with energy giants Utilita, who from immediate effect will become the club’s front of shirt sponsors on a two-year deal.

The move will see Utilita increase their sponsorship with the club significantly, lifting them from being the ‘official energy partners’ of the football club to becoming the club’s front of shirt sponsor.

The first team will be sporting the new-look kit on Tuesday as we host former Premier League champions Leicester City in our first home pre-season friendly ahead of the new campaign. As well as continuing to provide the energy supply for Glanford Park, the Utilita logo will adorn the front of the home, away and third kits for the Iron until at least the end of the 2020/21 season.

Scunthorpe United Chief Executive James Rodwell said: “We are delighted to be partnering with an established and fast-growing company who have helped transform the energy industry. The sponsorship is initially for two years, which shows our combined commitment to making the link-up a long-lasting and successful one.”

Utilita are one of the UK’s fastest growing energy suppliers and have quadrupled their customer base in just four years to 750,000 customers. They also introduced Britain’s first smart meter back in 2008.

During that time, Utilita has partnered with more than 20 football clubs, while also supplying energy to a number of iconic stadia, including Ibrox, Selhurst Park and Villa Park, to become an established and recognisable brand within the British game.

Utilita’s Director of Marketing & Communications, Jem Maidment said: “We began our partnership with Scunthorpe United back at the start of the 2018-19 season and we have seen the partnership go from strength to strength, so to be able to increase our presence around the club and the local area is something that we are extremely proud of. As well as powering Glanford Park, we are looking forward to supporting the club on and off the pitch, reaching out to the local community as well as promoting our products and services.”

Red Button Marketing Director Adrian Blackburn said: "We are delighted to play a part in taking Utilita Energy from official energy sponsor to the prestigious front of shirt partner for Scunthorpe United. We are really looking forward to seeing this relationship develop further.”

The Iron will be revealing the home kit in its entirety tomorrow morning (Tuesday, July 16th) at 10am.
