New loan arrival Jake Eastwood is looking forward to battling it out with Rory Watson for the main goalkeeping jersey this season.

Eastwood has arrived at Glanford Park on a season-long deal from Sheffield United, and the 22-year-old is excited about the prospect of first team football.

The shotstopper told Scunthorpe-United.co.uk: “I’m delighted to be here. I spoke to the manager and I liked what he had to say about the club. At this stage in my career, I want to get some first team games.

“The manager’s told me I’ll be battling it out (with Rory). It’s not going to be a guaranteed thing. I’ll have to fight for a place, and I’m happy to do that.

“I started at Sheffield United when I was 10 and am still there now at 22. I went on an emergency loan to Chesterfield in the league and have had a couple of emergency loans in non-league, but I want to start playing first team football in the league.

“This is massive to me. To come out and get that first team football would be a big thing. I’m coming here looking to show what I can do on the pitch.”
