Green reacts to Iron move

31 January 2020

New Iron attacking addition Devarn Green is delighted to be back in the EFL and is looking to show what he’s capable of while at the Sands Venue Stadium.

The 23-year-old forward signed for an undisclosed fee from National League North side Southport, and arrives full of confidence after a strong season for the Sandgrounders so far.

“I was told by the Southport manager that Scunthorpe were interested and it all happened quickly,” he explained to iFollow Iron.

“It’s very good to be back in the EFL. Sometimes in your career you have to take a dip down, and it’s all about character and bouncing back. There are many ups and downs in football, but I’m on the up now and back in the league.

“I just need to go out and do the business on the pitch. I’ve come here to commit myself to Scunthorpe, help the team and hopefully get a few goals.”

Describing his style of play, he said: “I’d like to think I’m quick, direct and exciting. I can play down the middle and out wide.

“This season has gone well. I’ve got a few goals under my belt, in great form at the minute and hopefully I can bring it to the team and show the fans what I can do.

“I just want to continue gaining confidence, play well and hopefully get the team up the table.”
