The 30-year-old netted two goals against Peterborough on New Year’s Day before scoring a winning goal at Walsall last weekend, which took his overall tally to 11 goals this season.

Novak now looks ahead to the visit of Sunderland at Glanford Park.

On his recent goals, he told iFollow Iron: “It is obviously good, but it is even better when you get the three points. To get the winning goal is always nice as well.

“I am more than happy as long as the team win, but to be contributing with goals on a regular basis is always nice.

“There’s no better feeling than scoring and it makes it even sweeter when you win.”

Novak was assisted by George Thomas for that goal at Walsall before he dinked the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net.

“George has been brilliant since day one,” said the forward.

“I think he’s relishing the number ten role and it was a great ball on Saturday for the goal and lucky for me it went in.”

The Iron have pushed themselves up to 15th in Sky Bet League One following four straight wins.

Novak said: “We have had four good wins and in the Coventry game the deflected goal maybe wouldn’t have happened a few weeks ago.

“Our luck is changing and we have just got to keep going to make it five, six, seven wins on the bounce.

“Wins breed confidence and I think you can see that in the way we are playing.

"Even when we were on the losing streak, we tried to not let our heads go down. It was difficult at times, but we have got a positive group and have to keep going.”

Novak is looking forward to the Sunderland match on Saturday, having grown up as a Newcastle United fan.

“I can’t wait,” said Novak. “We went there earlier in the season and didn’t do ourselves justice. In the second-half we played alright, but in the first-half we killed ourselves.

“As a Geordie lad, I want a positive result and hopefully on Saturday we can keep the run going and get another three points.

“I would take a win and not score, but hopefully I do score and we get the win as well.”
