Rob Jones will take charge of Tuesday's home encounter against Derby County in round one of the Carabao Cup.
The Merseyside-based official will travel to the Sands Venue Stadium for his second game of the season in his fourth campaign in the EFL.
A Select Group Two match official, Jones was promoted as a full-time Championship referee after excelling in 2017-18 which culminated in him being handed the showcase League One play-off final at Wembley Stadium between Shrewsbury Town and Rotherham United.
His first and only game of the season so far came at the weekend when he took charge of Leeds United's home encounter against Nottingham Forest which ended 1-1. He showed four cautions in the encounter.
He's taken charge of Scunthorpe matches on one previous occasion back in November 2017 when the side were held to a goalless encounter in round one of the FA Cup at the Sixfields Stadium. He showed four yellow cards in the encounter, cautioning Andrew Crofts, Duane Holmes and Kevin van Veen for the Iron. As a result, Tuesday's Carabao Cup encounter will be his first visit to Glanford Park.
Last season, and in total, he has officiated in four Derby fixtures the most recent being the A52 derby between the Rams and Nottingham Forest at the City Ground which the hosts edged. In total, he's shown 17 yellow cards and no reds in the four encounters involving the side.

On Tuesday, he will be assisted by Shaun Hudson and Richard Wild, while Matthew McGrath has been appointed as the fourth official.
