The Surrey-based official will travel to the Memorial Stadium for his 37th game of the season and his 12th in Sky Bet League Two. The current campaign is his ninth on the EFL.
His first game of the campaign was Wycombe Wanderers' 2-1 home win over Accrington Stanley on the opening day of the season, issuing just one caution in the game. Meanwhile his latest encounter came last weekend when he oversaw Ipswich Town's 4-0 home triumph over Charlton Athletic, again showing just one yellow card.
He's taken charge of the Iron on eight occasions in total competitively, most recently in December 2020 when the side was edged out 1-0 at home to Colchester United. Three cautions were issued, including one to Ryan Loft.
The last time he refereed the Iron was actually in pre-season, when he oversaw the side's win at AFC Wimbledon. In total, in the eight games he's been involved with Scunthorpe, he's shown 31 yellow cards and one red.
Meanwhile, he's refereed Bristol Rovers on 16 occasions, eight of which have come on their home soil. The last was back in February, away at Leyton Orient, whent the Pirates won 2-0. The last two encounters involving the side has seen him issue 17 yellow cards. In total, across the 16 games, 64 yellow card and two reds.
Last season, he showed 126 yellow cards and six reds in 34 games. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 36 encounters, showing 161 yellows and seven reds.
On Saturday, Breakspear will be assisted by Samuel Ogles and Andrew Aylott, while Rob Lewis has been appointed as the fourth official.
