Preview: Charlton Athletic (H)

2 October 2018

The Iron will be looking to kick-off October with a victory when Charlton Athletic visit Glanford Park on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick-off).

Stuart McCall’s side enter the game on the back of a six game unbeaten run in the league and have kept two clean sheets in concession, drawing 0-0 away at Burton Albion in their last match.

They will be looking to build on a 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury in the last home game, which provided a first victory at Glanford Park this term.

The Addicks have had a strong start to the season and presently sit sixth in the division, coming from behind to draw 2-2 at Luton Town at the weekend.

Midfielder Matthew Lund misses out through a one-match suspension following his fifth league booking of the season at the weekend.

McCall has also confirmed there are doubts over 'a couple' of other players, with striker Ike Ugbo confirmed as one of those after coming off during the match against Burton.

Levi Sutton has returned from a loan spell at Harrogate Town so will be in contention for a place in the squad, while Matt Gilks (knee) and Rory Watson (arm) miss out.

United defeated the Addicks twice last season, with Ivan Toney scoring the winner in a 1-0 success at the Valley in April. Josh Morris hit a brace during the previous November to secure a 2-0 victory.

Lyle Taylor needs very little introduction to Iron fans, having been with us during the 2014-15 season and scoring four goals in all competitions.

Taylor was snapped up by the Addicks after three seasons at AFC Wimbledon, which saw him become their all-time record EFL goalscorer with 44 goals.

Having started his playing days at Millwall, he represented Concord Rangers, notching a formidable 34 goals in 42 appearances, forcing a move to AFC Bournemouth in the process.

24 goals in 34 games for Falkirk followed before joining Sheffield United and then Scunthorpe United in 2015. A loan stint at Partick followed before he joined AFC Wimbledon.
