John Brooks has been appointed as the referee for the home clash against Rochdale.
He has officiated 41 games so far this season, showing 128 yellow cards and six red.
United defeated Southend 4-0 in September 2016, the last time he officiated us.
The assistant referees are Wayne Grunnill and Declan Ford, while the fourth official is Martin Coy.
