Iron sign Matthew Lund

3 August 2018

Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Matthew Lund for an undisclosed fee from Burton Albion.

The 27-year-old pens a two-year deal to become our latest summer addition.

He started his career in Crewe Alexandra’s academy before joining Stoke City in 2009. He then cut his teeth in the EFL with loan spells at Hereford United, Oldham Athletic, Bristol Rovers (twice) and Southend United.

Lund really established himself during a four-year stay at Rochdale, who he joined on a permanent basis in 2013. He made 130 appearances and scored 22 times while at Spotland, and became a big fans’ favourite.

He signed for Burton Albion in the Championship during the summer of 2017 and then went on to enjoy a loan spell at Bradford City during the second half of last season, making ten appearances and scoring twice.

Overall, he has made 206 career appearances and scored 31 goals. He also has three senior caps for Northern Ireland.
