Scunthorpe United have signed free agent striker Simon Church on a short-term contract until January.

The 28-year-old joins after departing Dutch Premier League side Roda JC Kerkrade.

A full Wales international, the experienced forward has won 38 caps for his country, scoring on three occasions, and played a part in the squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

Church began his career at Reading, where he scored 22 goals in 55 league starts. While at the Madejski Stadium, he enjoyed loan spells Crewe, Yeovil Town, Wycombe Wanderers, Leyton Orient and latterly Huddersfield Town.

He then signed for Charlton Athletic, followed by MK Dons, before a loan spell at Aberdeen prior to his move to the Netherlands last summer.

Church has been handed the No 30 shirt.
