The 24-year-old, who played in a left midfield position during the week, is also expecting another tough encounter when the Iron travel to the Cobblers again.

He spoke to iFollow Iron about his return to the squad, the FA Cup game and this upcoming weekend’s game.

ON RETURNING FROM INJURY…
CT: It was good and I was happy to get back out there playing. It had been quite a frustrating few weeks, coming back and then picking up an injury in my first game. Hopefully it’s behind me now and I can crack on.

ON THE NORTHAMPON GAME…
CT: We knew it was going to be a tough game. It was a great strike from Hakeeb (Adelakun) and I thought we fully deserved the win.

ON PLAYING IN LEFT MIDFIELD…
CT: I quite enjoyed it. It’s not somewhere I’m probably going to play for the rest of my career, but if I am asked upon, I can feel in and try and do a job. I went out there and did my best. I started higher up the pitch so it allowed me to get on the ball more. I really enjoyed the first-half and then felt a little tired towards the end, but that was probably going to happen with me being out for so long. Hopefully I helped the team get the result and I was just happy to get back out playing.

ON WATCHING THE SIDE FROM THE STANDS…
CT: It’s never nice to be out. When I was first out of the side, the form dipped a little bit, but recently the last five or six games have been very good. We’re looking to carry that on, especially over the Christmas period, and keep it going right through to next year. If we can do that, we will be in a very strong position.

ON FACING NORTHAMPTON AGAIN…
CT: It doesn’t happy often, but both teams are getting a feel of each other. We know how they’re going to play and I think they will know how we will play. I think it will be an even tougher game on Saturday and we’ve got to be just like we were on Tuesday night, trying to improve a little more.

ON THREE CLEAN SHEETS IN A ROW…
CT: At the start of the season, it was what we prided ourselves on and we had a really good record. We went away from it a little bit, but we work hard in training on our defensive shape and working as a team. That’s starting to show in games again, so hopefully we can keep those clean sheets.

ON THE EMIRATES FA CUP SECOND ROUND VERSUS DONCASTER…
CT: We’ve played against them a lot with the Checkatrade Trophy as well. Again, it will be a tough game, but we will be looking to go there and get a win and go to the third round, which is obviously where the big teams come in.
