The Iron are guaranteed a home clash against Sunderland in the Checkatrade Trophy group stages.
The draw was made by the EFL on Wednesday afternoon, and sees the Black Cats join United, Grimsby Town and Doncaster Rovers in Group H of the North section.
The Iron will face Sunderland at Glanford Park on the week beginning Monday, August 28th.
United will then face Grimsby Town at Glanford Park on the week starting Monday, October 2nd.
We will then travel to face Doncaster Rovers on the week commencing Monday, November 6th.
