Graham Alexander nominated for November manager of the month

6 December 2017

Iron boss Graham Alexander has been nominated for the Sky Bet League One manager of the month award for November.

The nomination comes following a perfect month in the league, with the Iron winning four from four, scoring eight and conceding just one.

It's the fourth nomination the United manager has received since taking charge of the club, following winning in April 2016, while gaining other nominations in August and October 2016.

Alexander will come up against Portsmouth's Kenny Jackett, Tony Mowbray of Blackburn Rovers and the manager of Walsall, Jon Whitney - Scunthorpe's next league opponents.

The judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, Sky Sports’ EFL League expert Don Goodman; EFL Marketing Director Drew Barrand, League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Mikey Mumford.

Here is what the judging panel had to say about the four candidates:

Graham Alexander (Scunthorpe United)

A perfect month for Alexander’s team who extended their winning streak to six League One games with four victories in November. Organised his side superbly, as evidenced by the fact that they conceded just one goal.

Kenny Jackett (Portsmouth)

A momentous month all round for Jackett who signed a contract extension to stay in charge at Fratton Park until 2021 and guided his side to three wins from four games as they moved threateningly into the promotion picture.

Tony Mowbray (Blackburn Rovers)

The circumspect nature of Rovers’ play earlier in the season was abandoned in November as Mowbray challenged his side to out-score the opposition. They did it in style, winning all four games with a thrilling 13-5 goal differential.

Jon Whitney (Walsall)

Calling out your players in public tests the bond between a manager and his players. Witney trusted his team to respond to their recent slide in the right way and cajoled them to turn their form around with six points from three games.

The winner of the award will be announced at 6am on Friday morning.
