He has covered for Jordan Clarke whilst he’s been out injured but, after having a taste of it, the 21-year old says he will fight to keep his place.

He told iFollow Iron that starts were his goal from the beginning of the season and he wants to help grab another clean sheet in Plymouth.

ON THE MIDDLESBROUGH RESULT IN MIDWEEK…
LS: They were a quality team. We knew that going into the game. I felt disappointed as I think that we had some good opportunities where we could have scored. I thought that 3-0 was a bit of a harsh reflection on the game. We had chances to score but we needed to be more clinical. However, that’s why they are in a higher league than us and why they are one of the best teams in that league. They took their chances.

ON PLYMOUTH ARGYLE AWAY…
LS: It’s going to be a tough test. They’re a good team but I think we are a good enough team to challenge anyone on the day. We will take the three points from the last league game and the positives from our season so far into it. We will try our best and hopefully bring three points back. If we go out there and do our best then hopefully we can bring three points back.

ON BREAKING INTO THE FIRST TEAM…
LS: I’m very pleased to be getting starts. I’m older now and my goal towards the start of the season was to be starting. I don’t want to be out of the team now and Jordan (Jordan Clarke) will be coming back now from injury but that’s good competition. It’s only going to make me better. The more games I’ve been playing, the more match-fit I’ve been feeling so we will see what happens.

ON THE MANAGER’S FEEDBACK…
LS: He’s just told me to keep doing what I’m doing. I need to keep performing because I don’t want to give him any excuses to take me out of the team. I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing and if that’s enough then that’s enough. If it’s not then I’ll have to step back and let Jordan do his thing but I’ll work hard to get back into the side.

ON THE FIRST CLEAN SHEET OF THE SEASON…
LS: I thought that we defended very well and if you keep a clean sheet and score one then you’ll win the game. Therefore, if we carry on keeping clean sheets and the lads carry on scoring then we won’t go far wrong.
