Sutton looks to keep his place

14 August 2017

Levi Sutton wants to push on after being handed his first start of the season in the 1-1 away draw with Rochdale.

Replacing the injured Jordan Clarke, Sutton started at right-back and was happy to do so, but was disappointed to only come away with one point.

He spoke to iFollow Iron after the match, reflecting on the game and looking towards this Saturday’s fixture versus Oxford United.

ON THE 1-1 DRAW WITH ROCHDALE…
LS: I think in the first half it wasn’t really us and for the second-half we’ve come out and it wasn't really us again, conceding from a corner. The reaction from the lads to turn it around and get the goal was a pretty good reaction, but obviously we’re disappointed with only getting the one point, when we thought we could have come got three.

"We need to keep the lads fresh and go again on Saturday."

ON THE PERFORMANCE…
LS: I don’t think I played the best in the first-half, but in the second-half we’ve come out as a team and played a lot better. I think we can take that as a positive and try to build on it.

ON BEING IN THE STARTING ELEVEN…
LS: Like any player, you don’t want to be sat in the stands or sat on the bench, you want to playing in every game you can, so to get my first 90 minutes of the season is good. I can only push on and try stay in the team.

ON THE SQUAD…
LS: I think we’re still growing as a team, there are still new people in and to get them two points from difficult oppositions, we will only grow and get better as a team.

ON THIS WEEK’S GAME AGAINST OXFORD…
LS: We’re playing at home and you always want to play at home after coming to places like Rochdale where it’s hard to get points. We need to keep the lads fresh and go again on Saturday.
