Local junior side Midtown United U10's visited the Iron's training session last Wednesday morning.
The visit came following the success of our Grassroots Day versus Fleetwood Town at the start of March, with an extra 1,000 added to the gate with an offer to bring local junior football teams to Glanford Park.
All teams who attended were entered into a FREE prize draw, with Midtown United randomly selected in a number generator to be awarded with a visit to Glanford Park to watch a training session, meet the players and take part in a penalty shoot-out with goalkeeper Joe Anyon.
Andy Booth, secretary of the junior side, said: "We all had a great time.
"The kids were all impressed they had penalties against Joe (Anyon) "a real 'keeper". Thanks to Graham, the lads and Scunthorpe United. It's been a great experience that the kids will carry with them for life."
Meanwhile the Iron manager said: "It was great to be able to welcome Midtown United to our training session on Wednesday. It was business as usual for us in preparation for our trip to Milton Keynes on Friday, but they enjoyed their time watching us and had a mini penalty shootout with Joe Anyon after training.
"It's another example of a team where there are volunteers who give up their time to coach young individuals who have a love for football, so it's great to be able to give something back like these kind of experiences.
"Like following my visit to Park Tigers, it's important to take notice of local grassroots football as it engages heavily with the community, like we do as a football club.
"Hopefully, in the future, one of these young individuals will be the ones training hard day-in, day-out as a professional footballer."
