Big Match Preview: Iron v Bolton Wanderers

6 April 2017

The Iron welcome Bolton Wanderers to Glanford Park on Saturday, in what is another big clash in Sky Bet League One.

After losing their last fixture away at Millwall, Graham Alexander’s men head into the game seeking a response.

They face a Bolton side who come into the match off the back of a stoppage time victory over Southend during the week.

Alexander revealed none of those on the sidelines have come back into contention for selection, with Harry Toffolo also being ruled out of this Saturday’s encounter.

The defender picked up a thigh strain on Tuesday, and the Scunthorpe boss expects him to be out of action for 7-10 days.

Elsewhere, Scott Wiseman and Jordan Clarke (both hamstring) are yet to return to training, as are Kevin van Veen (hamstring) and Sam Mantom (ankle).

Luke Daniels (ribs), Charlie Goode (ankle) and Tom Hopper (shin) will miss the rest of the season.

Bolton emerged 2-1 victors in the two sides’ last encounter back in December, with James Henry scoring a stoppage time winner at the Macron Stadium.

Phil Parkinson’s team took the lead on 17 minutes, as Josh Vela rifled home from the edge of the area.

Scunthorpe came back strong after the break though, and deservedly got themselves level via Neal Bishop, who swivelled in the box and fired past Ben Alnwick midway through the second period.
