Q&A: STEPHEN DAWSON

10 June 2016

During last season, Stephen Dawson answered questions sent in by fans for our matchday programme...

@dobbseldred, via Twitter, asks: What’s the best advice you could give to someone wanting to start a career in football?
SD: “Working hard and appreciating what you have got is important. Give it everything you’ve got, listen to what coaches tell you and enjoy what you’re doing.”

@j0shbraithwaite, via Twitter, asks: Who’s the better footballer, you or your brother?
SD: “I’d probably say me, just about. That’s only because I’m a bit older and more experienced.”

@tombettison, via Twitter, asks: Do you want to be a manager when you finish playing?
SD: “Yes, I want to be. I’m going to do my badges and it’s something I’d enjoy doing after I retire from playing.”

Michael Grundy, via Facebook, asks: How quickly did you settle into the squad?
SD: “The lads were great when I came in so it was really easy for me. The people that were already here did a good job of making me feel at home so I settled in pretty much straight away. We had to do a few initiation things, like singing a song, and that helps and now everyone in the squad gets on very well.”

Will O’Donovan, via Facebook, asks: Who did you support growing up and do you still support them?
SD: “Manchester United. I grew up following them and I still support them now.”

Bish-adam, via Instagram, asks: What convinced you to join Scunthorpe?
SD: “The vision and the aim of the club. What they’re going to achieve and where they are going to go and hopefully we can get into the Championship. Also, the new ground being built helped make it a pretty easy decision for me.”

Tom_mayall, via Instagram, asks: What type of boots do you wear?
SD: “I’m not into these fancy boots at all so I won’t wear anything flashy. I’ve just got some black Vapor ones.”

Ojwooley2502, via Instagram, asks: Who is the most skilful player at Scunthorpe?
SD: “There are a couple of players. I’m caught between going for Luke Williams and Hakeeb Adelakun, so it has to be one of them.”

I_am_the_whitty, via Instagram, asks: In your time at Scunthorpe, who have you got to know the best?
SD: “Probably Paddy Madden. I’ve known him a couple of years and I think I probably know everything there is to know about him now.”
