The Iron have completed the signing of Hull City full-back Conor Townsend on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old pens a two-and-a-half-year deal with Scunthorpe following his loan spell with the club last season in which he made five starts and one substitute appearance between February and May 2015.

Townsend has been on loan at local rivals Grimsby Town from October until New Years' Day of this season, making twelve appearances - eight of which ended as Mariners victories - and scoring two goals.

United's latest addition will provide a boost to the left side of the team with him becoming Mark Robins' second permanent January transfer addition, joining Murray Wallace who completed his move to the Iron on January 2.
