WALLACE: #FIVEORFREE A GREAT MOVE

29 April 2016

Iron defender Murray Wallace says it’s a “great move” from the club to set ticket prices at £5 adults and free for U18’s ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Port Vale.

In addition, the Scot said he hopes the squad can turn in a good display for the supporters, who are expected to come to Glanford Park in their droves.

Wallace told The Iron PlayerHD: “It’s a great move from the club to get all of the fans in, and getting the U18’s in for free, I think it’s brilliant.

“Hopefully we don’t disappoint them, and we can go out and show what we’ve been about this season, and also what they’ve got to look forward to.

“We’re going to look to win these two games, and try to put as much pressure on the teams above us. However it’s out of our hands, we need other teams to slip up, but even if we don’t make it we can carry the momentum into next season.”

It’s momentum which has been generated as a result of solid defensive performances, from a backline Wallace has been a constant in.

United kept their 20th clean sheet of the season in the 2-0 victory at Peterborough last Saturday, and the 23-year-old states it’s been a team effort.

“If you keep clean sheets you can’t lose, and more likely than not you win those games. So we’re happy with the number of clean sheets we’ve been getting," he said.

“Everybody’s been brilliant all season. Mirf (David Mirfin) keeps throwing his body at things, Luke’s (Daniels) pulling off some great saves. The whole team has been putting a great effort to get the clean sheets.”

Wallace revealed there’s a positive atmosphere around the camp currently, following the recent run of results.

“The more games you win, the more positive the team gets and it’s five in six," he stated.

“We lost the game to Bradford, which we thought was maybe a chance at the play-offs gone, but we’ve won the last few games, other results have gone our way, and we’re back in with a shout.

“We still wanted to win as many games as possible and carry the momentum into next season.”
