The Iron bounced back from their defeat to Carlisle with a good midweek display beating Morecambe three goals to one. Two goals in four minutes on the stroke of half time from Cal Roberts and Danny Whitehall gave Scunthorpe a two goal advantage. Ben Tollitt pulled one back for the visitors in the 70th minute, before Ty Sellars-Fleming wrapped up the game with a finish from outside the box. Now Scunthorpe's attention turns to an FA Cup fourth round qualifying round fixture, at home against King’s Lynn Town.
Winless in their last four, and with just one win in their last seven, the Linnets are hoping to cause a
cup upset to restore their recently rocky form. Town currently sit 11th in the National League North table after ten matches played, after being unbeaten in their opening four games before their struggles began. With three wins, four draws and three defeats their form overall has been quite a mix. But with 17 goals scored and a +5 goal difference, King’s Lynn's attacking play hasn’t been a problem this season.
Attacking threats Michael Gyasi and Reece Hall-Johnson are two players who have been on top
form this season, and will be looking to continue that against the Iron. Centre forward Gyasi,
since joining in the summer from Peterborough Sports has hit the ground running. The German
has seven goals and one assist in his opening ten, and will be looking to get back to finding the
net after being goalless in his last four. Other summer signing Reece Hall-Johnson has been top
for his side since joining from Barnet, with a lot of experience playing right back prior to joining
King’s Lynn, Hall-Johnson has been a threat from the wing this season with four goals from nine
games, only Gyasi has more.
The Iron will also meet familiar face Michael Clunan, the man who captained United through
promotion last year moved back to King’s Lynn in the summer and has played all of their league
matches, and been made captain since joining back. With league football parked until next
week, Andy Butler’s side will be looking to keep confidence high and try to put together a cup
run starting against King’s Lynn.
