Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm Andrew Boyce has been named as Club Captain for the 2025-26 season by Iron manager Andy Butler ahead of this weekend's National League season opener against Tamworth.

The experienced defender is by no means short of experience with the armband having been granted the vice-captain role for the past three seasons. While filling in as team Captain on a number of occasions throughout his second spell with the Iron, Boyce has proven his natural leadership ability and made himself one of the obvious candidates for the role following the departure of midfielder Michael Clunan.

Having appeared 40 times across United's promotion winning campaign last time out, Boyce will be looking to carry his impressive form along with his newly appointed captain's armband into the new season at step one.

Boyce's second in command for the season has been awarded to forward Cal Roberts who takes on his first leadership role since joining the club from Aberdeen in the summer of 2023.

A talented player and major influence both on and off the field, Roberts has proven that he possesses the leadership qualities required for the role over the course of this pre-season having sported the armband on a number of occasions.

We will receive more insight into this story during tomorrows pre-match interviews that will be conducted with both Boyce and Butler ahead of their sides away clash with the Lambs.
