About

Scunthorpe United was delighted to confirm the permanent signing of Welshman Pat Jones from Enterprise National League North side Chester FC for an undisclosed fee.

Starting his career with youth sides in his native Wales, Jones would be snatched up by Huddersfield Town's academy side when he was just 16, going on to progress through the youth ranks before making his first team debut in the Emirates FA Cup against Plymouth Argyle in 2021.

Despite making 18 appearances over three years at Huddersfield, Jones was sold to Exeter City ahead of the 2024-25 season for an undisclosed fee. He made 17 appearances for the Grecians last term before being released at the end of his contract. This turn of events would lead the winger to join Chester in a shock transfer, with many left surprised that he wasn't still playing EFL football for the 2025-26 season.

So far this season, Jones has been a key figure for the Seals, scoring seven goals in 33 games for the side that Scunthorpe defeated in last year's play-off final. Despite attracting offers from several teams within the National League and National League North, Jones joins the Iron on a two-year deal, looking to aid his new side's play-off goals and promotion push.
