Scunthorpe are unbeaten in their last four games but will be looking to get back to winning ways after their 2-2 draw with Rochdale.
Scunthorpe currently sit 5th in the National League and are in the play-off spots, whilst Halifax are sitting 8th and trying to climb their way into them.
Andy’s Bet Club’s football analyst will break down Halifax’s recent clash with Carlisle to see what the statistics suggest about how they might set up against Scunthorpe.
Halifax Town vs Carlisle United

Carlisle took all three points in the game, but it was a closely contested fixture.
There weren’t many clear chances created in the game, with Halifax creating an xG (expected goals) of 0.89 and Carlisle creating an xG of 0.52.
Both sides were quite cautious when out of possession and didn’t put too much pressure on the ball high up the pitch. Halifax had a PPDA (Passes per Defensive Action) of 13.8 and an average defensive line of 48.8 metres, whilst Carlisle had a PPDA of 12.3 and an average defensive line of 46.7 metres.
Halifax were dominant when it came to offensive duels, winning 52% compared to Carlisle’s 37% and were also dominant in the defensive duels, winning 63% compared to Carlisle’s 48%. However, it was Carlisle who were dominant in the aerial duels, winning 66% compared to 27% won by Halifax.
Final Thoughts
Halifax have had two key players when it comes to goal contributions this season. Striker William Harris has got a combined 21 goals and assists this season, whilst midfielder Josh Hmami has a combined 17 goals and assists.
This season’s pressing stats show that Scunthorpe have had an average PPDA of 9.9, which is better than the league average of 11.7. In comparison, Halifax have the 2nd-highest PPDA of 14.77, which highlights how passive they have been when out of possession, so Scunthorpe can expect to have time on the ball when building out from the back.
Halifax have played the majority of their season in a 4-2-3-1 formation, but have switched to a back five in recent weeks and with them on a good run of form, it would be no surprise to see them shape up in the same way against Scunthorpe
