Scunthorpe United is delighted to be welcoming a number of our nominated Young Heroes to Saturday's Isuzu FA Trophy encounter against Horsham, in partnership with the Iron Foundation and Study United.
Back in November, the club appealed to the North Lincolnshire community to help shine a spotlight on the area’s youngest stars, inviting nominations for children who have achieved something special, shown exceptional kindness, overcome challenges, or made a positive difference in their school or community over the course of 2025.
Whether it was fundraising for a good cause, supporting a friend in need, excelling in school or sport, or demonstrating remarkable courage, as a club we are keen to celebrate the achievements that deserve recognition.
Following the applications, of which we received numerous, we whittled the nominees down to a group which we felt were really worthy of celebration. As a result, all have been invited to Saturday's game where we will celebrate them and a Young Hero in our Legends Lounge. The build-up to the game will offer a memorable experience and the chance to proudly share their story, with representatives of the club taking part in the build-up to kick-off.
In devising this initiative, our hopes are that by recognising these young role models, they can help inspire others while strengthening the bond between the club and its community, as the Iron look to give back to the young individuals and repay them with the recognition they deserve.
We would like to congratulate all nominees who will be joining us this weekend, and look forward to meeting them and hearing their story first-hand.
We are also delighted to have representatives from the Iron Foundation and Study United present following a series of community meetings between the club and the organisations, where this idea originated from.
