Scunthorpe are set to face off against a struggling Buxton side starting to slip down the table, fresh off the back of an important home victory against Darlington.

Alfie Beestin’s first half brace sealed the three points for United, and now look to get all three points against a struggling Buxton.

In the reverse fixture, the Iron hosted Buxton and fell to a 3-2 home loss. Cian Coleman’s hat-trick meant that goals from Maxim Kouogun and Cal Roberts weren’t enough to earn a point for Scunthorpe.

The Bucks have found themselves to be a bit of a bogey team for Scunthorpe, in the past three visits between the two United are yet to get a win. Buxton have two wins out of the three games, the other fixture ending a 0-0 draw, Andy Butler’s side will be looking to make a statement victory by breaking their rut against the side from the East Midlands.

Buxton have been finding wins hard to come by recently, with just one victory in their last five, losing the other four. Last time out for the Bucks it was a 2-1 defeat away to Hereford on Tuesday night, which saw Cian Coleman get sent off, perhaps a boost for the Iron after the trouble he caused in the reverse fixture getting three goals.

Despite their form, the Bucks still have a few players that Scunthorpe will have to look out for Tom Elliott, Connor Kirby, and arrival from November Luke Brennan are all danger men for the hosts.

Connor Kirby is another Bucks player who can grab goals from midfield. The 26-year-old box-to-box midfielder has scored seven and assisted seven this season. Kirby has been a starter since joining the club on a free transfer after leaving Harrogate Town.

Attacker Tom Elliott has had a fantastic season for Buxton so far, with 17 goal involvements from 31 games played he has been a crucial player for his side. The 29 year old has scored nine and set up eight goals from the wing this season as been the Bucks’ top scorer this season becoming a fan favourite.

A man in real good form for Buxton is Luke Brennan. The 23 year old winger who joined towards the end of November has got off to a fantastic start, after just 17 games played he has bagged eight goals and four assists and is set to be a player to watch. After joining Fylde in July the attacker struggled to get minutes making just five appearances in the National League and not getting a goal involvement, but is now showing his worth since joining the Bucks. As Buxton look for a first win after four winless games, the Iron continue to pile pressure on Chester in top spot just one point ahead having played a game more than Scunthorpe, three points could be enough to put United top spot should Chester drop points.
