Scunthorpe United is pleased to announce that versatile attacker Alfie Beestin has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with the club.

Now the Iron’s longest serving player with five consecutive years under his belt, Beestin experienced his best goal return in his senior career last campaign, his eight league goals in 42 appearances helped propel United to promotion back to the National League Premier Division hence earning himself a more than deserved new deal.

Beestin first put pen to paper with the Iron in January 2020, as we signed him from nearby Tadcaster Albion. Initially brought in for the Under-23s team, Beestin used his experience that he’d gained with Doncaster Rovers in the years previous to break into the Iron squad and has kept his place ever since.

Despite having several injuries during his time with United, Alfie has still managed to surpass the 150-appearance mark for the club which he accomplished last season, and he’s sure to have his sights set on the not so distant 200 games mark over the course of the next two-years.

“I’m buzzing to get the new deal over the line, after such a great season last year that was topped off with the promotion there was only one thing on my mind come the end of the campaign and that was staying," he said.

“I’ve said all along that I want to get this football club back where it belongs, being part of that team that did get relegated I still feel the responsibility and want to get us back to the EFL.”
