Scunthorpe United attacker Callum Roberts has been recognised in the league's monthly accolades as the Vanarama National League North player of the month for October.

With five goals in the month, and two assists, along with a dedicated goal of the month competition where all four options were netted by the former Newcastle United and Aberdeen player, he has also been recognised by the league following his strong performances.

Along with those two assists, Roberts also contributed to a number of the Iron’s other goals scored across the month, often being the secondary assister in a goal.

Following the accolade, he commented: “I’m delighted. It’s always nice to be recognised when you’re playing well, so yes I’m over the moon with it.

“I can take a lot of confidence from how the month went for me personally, with five goals and two
assists. It could have been a lot more. The results weren’t always the best, but there’s something in there that we can build on as a team.”

The Vanarama National League's press release reads as follows:

Your National League Players of the Month have been crowned as the season really starts to take shape.

Those who made the difference on the pitch are honoured after our panel studied all the stats and data before coming to their conclusion.

Not many Forest Green Rovers fans will argue with their decision. Kyle McAllister has not only been pulling the strings from midfield but has also been chipping in with some crucial goals too.

A fine October that saw Rovers go unbeaten in all competitions had a lot to do with their number seven. The 25-year-old hit the net three times last month, scoring against Woking, Ebbsfleet United and Braintree Town. He assisted at Eastleigh too, and his fantastic form saw him twice included in the Vanarama Team of the Week.

In what looks like the tightest National League North title race for years, one outstanding individual could make all the difference.

Scunthorpe United fans certainly hope so and in Callum Roberts they think they possess something no other side does.

The tenacious winger, who also operates centrally in the Iron midfield, scored five goals in five appearances, ensured his team were top of the pile going into November. He produced two assists, too. The club described him as the creative force behind a number of their key moments last month, wrapping October up with a sublime free-kick against Southport and a long-range effort in their 6-0 thumping of Farsley Celtic.

He scored twice against Oxford City and once against Rushall Olympic and Roberts is again looking the player everyone knows he is.

Many may be surprised to see Truro City right up the top of the National League South but it’s no shock to anyone to see Tyler Harvey topping the scoring charts.

The striker was in the running for the Player of the Month in August and September too, but he couldn’t miss out this time. His haul of 11 goals so far this season is unmatched by any other forwards in the division,

and he enjoyed another four-goal month. Adding to his tally with two against Hampton & Richmond, he also found the net against Farnborough, and Tonbridge Angels.

Well done to Tyler, Callum and Kyle!
