In addition to the return of John Schofield as assistant manager to Andy Butler, Scunthorpe United can also confirm the other additions to the backroom staff as pre-season gets underway.
United welcome Ciaran Pack as Lead Sports Therapist as he makes the switch from Boreham Wood, where he was first an associate therapist before becoming first team therapist, staying with the club for two years.
Beginning his career as a goalkeeper coach in Jersey, Ciaran worked with the Jersey FA before moving back to England to become Head of Goalkeeping and Assistant Coach at Blackpool Ladies.
His medical experience took prominence from August 2020 onwards when he joined St Peter Football Club as Medical Lead - a role he would keep for two years, while also working as a Sports Therapist for Freedom Physiowellness for three-quarters of that time. In July 2022, he ended employment with both entities to join Boreham Wood.
As well as his coaching badges in football and in goalkeeping, Ciaran is medically certified through his experience, holding the FA ITMMiF qualification, with his education at Edge Hill Universirt seeing him emerge with a Bachelor of Science in Sport in 2020.
Meanwhile, the Iron has also appointed Ash Slawson as strength and conditioning coach as he arrives after departing Grimsby Town.
Qualifying at the University of Hull, completing his Masters at Leeds Beckett University, he brings a large amount of experience across a range of clubs.
Having gained experience in his early working career, he first turned to rugby, working for Leeds Rhinos and Gainsborough Rugby club before moving into football as a sports scientist firstly with Lincoln City, where he spent two years of his career with the academy set-up.
He then spent almost two years at Boston United before a short stints at Harrogate Town and Solihull Moors before taking on a role at Gainsborough Trinity. Most recently, his role at the Mariners was a strength and conditioning coach.
Both of the latest arrivals join Butler, assistant manager John Schofield (announced on Monday) and goalkeeper coach Paul Musselwhite to the backroom staff, which also comprises Head of Football Operations Lee Turnbull and Kit Lady Sharon Stevenson.
Scunthorpe United would also like to place on record a massive thank you to Rodger Wylde who was a fantastic asset as physiotherapist last season, and wish him all the best for the future.
