The Iron are back on the road this weekend as they travel to face Alfreton Town on Saturday, September 2nd (3pm kick-off).

United go into the game after beating Scarborough Athletic 4-1 on Bank Holiday Monday following defeat which ended a nine-game unbeaten run at Curzon Ashton last weekend.

IRON TEAM NEWS

Subject to international clearance, new signing Connor Smith could be included in the squad at Alfreton after joining the club on Friday from Hearts.

Captain Michael Clunan has gone for another scan to clear up whether he's able to resume training.

Elsewhere, Alfie Beestin has received positive news on his hamstring injury, with his sidelining reduced to four weeks, meaning he has another two-and-a-half weeks before he returns to training.

Jason Law has been dealt a blow with his injury which has revealed a tear on his quad, meaning he is set for two months on the sidelies, while United are hoping that Callum Roberts is only a week away from returning to the group.
 
THE OPPOSITION

Alfreton have had a mixed start to the season, with three wins and three losses from their six games so far.

They began the campaign with a 3-1 defeat at South Shields before three wins on the bounce against Southport, Peterborough Sports and Tamworth before being defeated in their latest two games against Darlington and King's Lynn Town.
