Loan Watch: September 5th-9th

A look into how Iron loanees performed during the round of fixtures over the last week.

Marcus Carver

Experienced striker Carver is currently out on loan at fellow National League North side Southport. His side were early strugglers but have seen a recent surge in form under new manager Jim Bentley, winning both games last week against Scarborough and King's Lynn. During these fixtures, Carver scored four goals including a hat-trick against the Linnets on Saturday, for which he was awarded a place in the NLN team of the week.

Josh Robertson

Exciting midfield prospect Josh Robertson was substituted at half-time as his loan side Marske United were heavily defeated 5-0 away from home by Matlock Town. During the game, former Iron striker Jonny Margetts scored four to seal the Seasiders' fate.

Harrison Poulter

Tireless attacker Poulter again was unable to feature for his Gainsborough Trinity side due to being unable to play in cup competitions, as his side crashed out of the FA cup at the hands of Matlock in what was a 5-2 score line in the replay. Poulter did, howeve,r play a full 90 minutes for the Holy Blues in the subsequent game, but was unable to prevent Trinity’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Morpeth Town.

Ross Barrows

In other loan news, summer signing Ross Barrows’ 28-day recall option has been activated and he has returned to Jimmy Dean's ranks after an impressive stint at Ilkeston town. He made six appearances and scored once while with the Robins.
