Next up: Gainsborough Trinity (A)

16 July 2023

Next up for the Iron is a trip Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday, July 18th (7.30pm kick-off) as part of the side's preparations for the 2023-24 season.

Jimmy Dean will take his side to the Northolme for their fourth game of pre-season, off the back of a first win at Ilkeston Town at the weekend.

United will take on former midfielder Neal Bishop's side at the Northolme as both sides prepare for the 2023-24 campaign.

Trinity are looking for another successful season under Bishop, with the team narrowly missing out on promotion to Vanarama National League North after being edged out in their play-off semi-final encounter against Bamber Bridge on penalties.

Their gaffer, who has clocked around 800 appearances in his playing career, still assumes the role of Player-Manager, and will give Jimmy Dean's side a stern test with just two-and-a-half weeks of pre-season remaining at that point.

Harry Lewis, now of Cleethorpes, Ty Sellars-Fleming, now departed, and current player Fin Shrimpton enjoyed valuable match action at the Northolme last season, with the latter in line to come up against the side he played for on loan during last season.

The Iron are likely to come up against former players George Hornshaw, Lewis Butroid and Jack Moore-Billam who are all on Trinity's books.

For the Iron, it will be the first meeting between the two sides since the Lincolnshire Senior Cup Final in April 2022 with goals from Harvey Cribb and Alfie Beestin seeing Scunthorpe lift the trophy in a 2-1 win.

Tickets for the encounter will be £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for under-18s and can be purchased here.
