On behalf of myself, the players, Jimmy and his coaching team, along with club staff, I would like to thank Michelle and the Board for their tireless work to finalise the deal to secure Glanford Park and Scunthorpe United.
Michelle has been at the ground every working hour to secure the football club's future, with Roj Rahman assisting with day-to-day challenges, along with the rest of the Board to ensure we have a club to support. Having acquired 92% of the shareholding, Michelle was driven to secure the stadium and surrounding land. Invaluable support from North Lincolnshire Council should never be forgotten, and further financial assistance from the Directors and benefactors to get this over line applauded.
I cannot praise the staff enough for their loyalty and commitment shown during some difficult times, which has financially and emotionally impacted on their lives.
The hard work begins now to build on this momentous achievement. We need you, the fans and the business community, to continue to support the football club as you always have done.
Our club is built on the shoulders of the people of North Lincolnshire, with local people running the club. We are in the community for the community. Tahina, George, Suzy, Ian, Simon, Geoff and Roj; take a bow.
Ian Dawson, Iron Bru and the Iron Hour Podcast guys have all played a valuable part in the survival mission led by our Chair. The Iron Foundation, Study United and the Iron Trust have stood up and committed much needed funds, we thank them.
The future is now in our own hands. The desire to succeed on and off the pitch is burning in our hearts. We need help and understanding that this is not a quick fix, but a long term plan based on sustainability and strategy to ensure professional football remains in Scunthorpe for the next generation of supporters to enjoy. We are humbled, and truly grateful for the support from our loyal fans.
Continue to turn up in numbers, sponsor games, players and events wherever you can. Wear your colours and be loud and proud.
We are Scunthorpe United, United we Stand.
