Boyce talks ahead of Southend home game

21 April 2023

Defender Andrew Boyce has previewed Saturday’s home game against Southend United in the Vanarama National League (3pm kick-off).

The former Eastleigh man began by reflecting on what has been a long and disappointing season. He said: “It’s been a big struggle this season from start to finish. We’ve probably got what we deserved in the end by not being good enough as a team."

On the chance of getting a win in front of the fans, Boyce said: “If we hopefully put on a good performance on Saturday then we can go out on a better note that recent weeks here. Results haven’t gone our way recently and we haven’t been getting the wins, but our last home game gives us a chance to put a good show on for the fans."

He then spoke about the potential of a busy summer ahead of the upcoming season, adding: “The club has to rebuild and we have to put a team together that can hopefully bounce straight back. The summer will fly past and before you know it we will be back in.”

The defender finished by again speaking about finishing the season as well as possible: “You play for pride, you play for yourself, and you want to do well every time you step on a pitch."
