Update from Lee Turnbull

2 September 2022

Good afternoon, Iron fans.

Firstly, I would like to thank Keith and Tony for their time with the football club and wish them well for the future.

Club legend and academy manager Tony Daws will be in charge of first team affairs until further notice assisted by former Iron captain Michael Nelson and goalkeeping coach Paul Musselwhite. As always with interim appointments the opportunity to grasp the nettle is in their hands and we need to provide as much support and backing as we can to turn results around.

Boreham Wood provides us with another big challenge, a top-drawer National League team aspiring to get into the EFL.

I’m absolutely delighted with our home attendances this season, loyal backing indeed, averaging around 3,000 supporters during these difficult times is fantastic, even though results have not gone our way your support has been magnificent!

We will work hard on and off the pitch to get up the division and get some more points on the board. Our fan experience on a matchday has been well received, The Dominos will be playing a set today and Commonwealth Silver Medalist Gemma Richardson is doing the Q&A in the restaurant. Everyone inside GP on Saturday will have the opportunity to show their appreciation with Gemma doing a lap of the pitch.

I’m also pleased to announce a Business Brunch on Friday 23rd September at GP. The local business community is pivotal to the growth and expansion of our club. Come on down and meet the commercial team along with myself. Anyone interested please contact Glyn Sparks (glyn.sparks@scunthorpe-united.co.uk).

Get behind Tony, Nelse and Mussy! We need you more than ever, Iron fans, to help us get moving up the league. Be loud and proud!
