The forward joins the Sandgrounders in time to potentially make his debut against Leamington Spa on Saturday.
The 28-year-old has made two starts and five substitute appearances for Scunthorpe so far.
He signed for the Iron following a stop-start pre-season at Hartlepool and has since missed the past fortnight a recurring quad strain injury. He is looking to get back to full fitness during his time in Merseyside.
The Iron have a 28-day recall on Carver and the move is subject to league and FA ratification.
