Daws talks following Barnet away draw

28 October 2022

Interim first team manager Tony Daws spoke to Iron Player after the 1-1 away draw at Barnet on Friday night.

Rob Apter scored late on for the Iron but Harry Pritchard levelled not long after, as the shares were spoiled.

Daws said: "All of them to a man were terrific and their work rate and desire was really good. That wasn't the performance of a bottom of the league team, of course we're disappointed but we are disappointed for the right reasons. Tonight I don't see how anyone can criticise that.

"There were lots of positives tonight. We got to half-time, positive at 0-0. Then in the second half we got the goal and missed another one, with Joe (Nuttall) having a good opportunity that was a little bit unfortunate and you're hoping it goes in for you. I thought we'd done enough when we got the goal but then they pegged us back."

He added: "We played good football, were workman-like when we had to be, and played when we could do, and I felt we got down the sides of their centre-backs pretty well at times, we got down the sides of the 18-yard box and created goalscoring opportunities."

Kgosi Ntlhe came off at half-time, and said: "Kgosi has been brilliant for us but he was pushed from behind when going in for a challenge, and he's just tweaked his hamstring a little bit. He was struggling to free it up at half-time and had to come off."
