The Iron were held to a 1-1 draw in their opening EFL Youth Alliance Cup fixture away against Lincoln City.
The five-team Group C which the under-18s will play within consists of: The Iron, Huddersfield Town, Lincoln City, Oldham Athletic and Walsall.
Attacker Julian Donnery put the Imps ahead in the first half before second-year scholar Tyrell Sellars-Fleming levelled the game shortly after the break.
Speaking on the goal, Academy Manager Tony Daws said: “He created a bit of space in the box on his left foot and slotted it low-down past the goalkeeper."
Looking at the game overall, he added: “It was a good youth development game. We played well against a good side Lincoln City side. Our performance was very good and on top of that we believe we did enough, especially in the second half, to deserve to win the game.”
The Iron U18s are back in EFL Youth Alliance League action on Saturday 27th August, with an away trip to Bradford City (11.00am kick-off).
IRON: Oxborough, Dickinson (70’ Hill), Elliott-Bell, Abraham, Cribb, Pike, Strouther, Robertson, Burden-Whittleton, Sellars-Flemming, Giles.
