Jordan Clarke's Southend red card rescinded

22 March 2021

Jordan Clarke will no longer be subjected to a three-match ban in Sky Bet League Two after an independent Regulatory Commission upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal.

The 29-year-old was sent off in the 78th minute during the Iron’s 1-1 draw against Southend United by referee Robert Lewis, who had deemed his infringement on the Shrimpers’ Tim Dieng to be violent conduct.

United manager Neil Cox confirmed in his pre-Bradford City press conference that an appeal had been lodged with the FA and, shortly after, confirmation was received that the red card had been rescinded.

Clarke will now be eligible to be selected for the Iron’s latest clash, at home to the Bantams.
