CAPPING A TITLE-WINNING SEASON

Champions Scunthorpe signed off a memorable League One title-winning season with a comfortable win at home to Carlisle.
Cleveland Taylor fired them in front after Billy Sharp had squandered a hat-trick of good openings. Matt Sparrow added a second after being set up by target man Steve Torpey, playing his final game for the club.
Jermaine Beckford squeezed a shot home to secure a third, while Kevin Gall was twice denied by excellent saves from goalkeeper Joe Murphy.
Scunthorpe skipper Andy Crosby received the trophy at the end of the game - the first time in 49 years the club have been crowned divisional champions.

BEAGRIE SHINES IN AWAY ROMP

The craft of veteran midfielder Peter Beagrie and the probing of classy Steve MacLean gave the Carlisle defence a torrid time.
The surprise was that Scunthorpe went in just one goal ahead at the interval - a 23rd-minute strike by Steve Torpey after the chance was set-up by Terry Barwick and MacLean.
Ian Kilford and Wayne Graves had chances to add to the visitors' advantage and Carlisle keeper Peter Keen beat away MacLean's effort after good work by Torpey.
MacLean scored Scunthorpe's second in the 51st minute after taking Beagrie's pass in his stride and cutting inside past two weak challenges to cleverly beat Keen for his ninth goal of the season.
Scunthorpe, beaten only twice on their travels this season, went further ahead after 64 minutes with a superb solo effort by defender Kevin Sharp.
His angled volley from 25 yards left Keen grasping at thin air as it flew in at the far post.
Beagrie - denied a spectacular free-kick goal by Keen's diving stop - got his reward in the 83rd minute, netting from the penalty spot after on-loan debutant Shaun Smith had fouled Graves in the area.
The home side grabbed some small consolation in the 87th minute when substitute Craig Farrell profited from an error by goalkeeper Sam Russell.

SHARP AND KEOGH KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING

Billy Sharp and Andy Keogh led from the front to give Scunthorpe the victory.
Keogh had fired an early warning to Carlisle in the first minute with a raking 25-yard effort that goalkeeper Kieren Westwood just managed to save.
Sharp opened the scoring in the 52nd minute after he took a touch before guiding a shot past Westwood to claim a remarkable 17th goal of the season.
In added time Keogh produced a brilliant individual effort as his 40-yard lob found the back of the net.
